In this program, students will gain an insider’s perspective on today’s fastest-growing industry: tech. We go through a mini coding Bootcamp, developing the groundwork for a skill that many employers are coming to value in the new age of computing and work. We also explore of careers in tech, interviewing and engaging with industry professionals at companies and start-ups to learn about their personal journeys and to discuss key issues in the tech and innovation world.
The course concludes with a hackathon, where students create their own website or solve a programming problem, presenting their final projects and solutions in front of classmates and industry professionals.

This program has two cohorts.
Cohort 1: July 13th to 17th
Cohort 2: August 10th to August 14th.
ET sessions will be held Monday-Friday, with two daily sessions from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM EST.
CST sessions will be held Monday-Friday, with one daily session from 7:30 AM to 12 PM CST.
Sessions will be held on Zoom.
Students need a computer with a camera and microphone/speaker, and an internet connection with ample bandwidth to handle videoconferencing. Headphones are recommended.
This program is a combined total of 22.5 hours.

The curriculum and activities are specifically designed for rising 9th – 12th graders.

In order to take full advantage of the experiential education potential of a program like this, we’ll be asking you to go out into the world and complete some tasks and activities. These will range from talking to family members, doing short bouts of online research, or exploring your backyard in some cases. If you cannot complete an assignment for any reason, check with your Beyond Travel Program Leader.
